Castril

Castril is a town in the province of Granada, located to the north of it, on the provincial border with Jaén. It belongs to the region of Huéscar, in what is known as the Altiplano de Granada, an area not very well known in Andalusia that is quite a surprise for anyone who visits it. The town is located under the natural monument of La Peña (so important that the town used to be called Castril de la Peña) and is the gateway to the Sierra de Castril Natural Park..

Surrounded by a beautiful environment, the town of Castril combines nature and history. La Peña rock is one of its hallmarks, being used as a fortress and strategic place for centuries. Today the town is located under it, with its cobbled streets, white houses adorned with flowers and picturesque corners, and on the banks of the Castril River, the mightiest in Granada that forms beautiful landscapes as it passes through there.
